MACOMB COUNTY WARMING CENTER

The Warming Center works with the homeless. There are several areas where help is needed: helping to transport bedding and supplies on Sunday mornings (Sunday mornings 6:30-11:30 a.m.), setting up bedding at the churches on Sunday evenings and helping to wash blankets at a Roseville Laundromat on Sunday mornings. COMPASSION PREGNANCY

Compassion Pregnancy is looking for volunteers to help clean-up, sort and organize the donated baby items.

The Sterling Heights office of the Family Independence Agency is looking for help on a once a month basis. The volunteer would help out in the emergency food closet for about four hours.  The job would be to help organize and/or stock the pantry shelves and to package boxes of food for distribution. SPRINGHILL CAMPS

Springhill Camps run a program called “Teen Service Team” which is a high school service program. It is a chance for teens to learn about servanthood and community and do camp activities when they are not serving. It is for campers interested in working with children. Campers will receive 30 hours of community service for each week they are at camp. Students must complete an application and interview before they are accepted. The Senior Homemaking Program needs volunteers to help low-income, ailing or incapacitated seniors with visiting (bake some cookies and share), telephone calling, housekeeping, errands and companionship. CHURCH OF CHRIST CARE CENTER

The Church of Christ Care Center is looking for volunteers to help at their facility (located at 15 mile and Harper).      There are all types of volunteer activities available: reception desk (from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and weekends 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.), filing, gardening, data entry, read to residents, play cards with residents, work in the kitchen, etc. (A TB test is necessary and will be given on site at no cost to you.) Volunteers are also needed to work one on one with individual residents: folding towels, working puzzles, sanding wood etc. You must be at least 17 years old.
